R.L. Nelson and Associates, Inc. (RLN) was formed in July 1986
as an information systems consulting firm. The primary goal of the
firm is to provide high-quality products and services to small and
mid-sized companies throughout the eastern United States. Since
our inception, we have provided various products and services to
hundreds of companies that were seeking to implement a computer-based
accounting information system.

Professional Staff
Our staff is comprised of a diverse mix of individuals with a variety
of backgrounds and expertise. We have CPA's, technology specialists
and programmers on staff. Several of the staff hold multiple Masters
degrees in accounting, information systems and business. Combined,
the staff has over 50 years of experience in implementing and supporting
accounting information systems.
Overview of Products and Services
Since our inception, our business plan has been comprised of three
major components; back office accounting information systems, custom
application development and information systems consulting. Over
the years, there have been many changes in technology and the marketplace
that have occurred. During this time, we have stayed focused on
our business plan. Following is a brief overview of the products
and services we currently provide.
- Accounting information systems
The firm will guide clients in the evaluation, selection, implementation
and support of several of the leading mid-market back office accounting
systems. We are an authorized Business Partner or Consultant for

In recent years, there has been an increased emphasis on integrating
front office sales force automation and customer service systems
with the back office accounting information system. Accordingly,
we offer several products that integrate with the

- Custom application development
As clients become more sophisticated and the range of technology
broadens, it is increasingly important for diverse systems to
share data and communicate with each other. To aid clients with
this need, we have experienced technology specialists and programmers
on staff to develop custom interfaces and conversion routines,
entire applications and custom reports. We have developed systems
utilizing Rbase, Microsoft Access, SQL
Server and Visual Basic.
- Information systems consulting
Many small and mid-sized clients don't have the in-house technical
resources to stay abreast of the changes in technology and have
contracted with us to assist them with their technology plans
and infrastructure. Typically clients need guidance in understanding
local area network technology, hardware requirements for specific
software applications, remote communication options, operating
system fundamentals, hosting options and Internet/e-commerce related
questions. Through our internal resources and relationships with
other consulting firms we can deliver a complete consulting service
to our clients in a wide variety of situations.
